Open your web browser and go to the GitHub homepage. GitHub is a website where developers store code, manage projects, and work together.
On the GitHub home page, look for the Sign up button. It is usually near the top-right corner of the page.
Click it to begin creating your new account.
Type in the email address you want to use for GitHub. Make sure you use an email account you can access, because GitHub will send a verification email.
Enter a strong password for your GitHub account. A good password should be hard to guess and should include a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols if possible.
Now choose a username. This will be your public name on GitHub, and other people will see it in your profile and repository links.
Try to choose a name that is simple, professional, and easy to remember.
GitHub may ask you to complete a puzzle or simple security check to confirm that you are a real person.
Follow the on-screen instructions, then move to the next page.
After sign-up, GitHub will usually send a message to your email inbox. Open that email and click the verification link.
Once you click the link, your account becomes fully activated.
GitHub may ask a few setup questions, such as your experience level, interests, or whether you want a free or paid plan.
For most beginners, the Free plan is enough.
After setup, you can create repositories, upload code, and connect GitHub with Visual Studio Code or other development tools.
Your GitHub account is now ready.
